The 7th District Dental Hygienists Association of the State of New York, Rochester, Finger Lakes Region, has donated materials to the dentistry archives located in Bibby library at Eastman Dental. This endeavor will ensure that the group’s history will be preserved, digitized, and accessible to the public for scholarly use. Of particular interest are a variety of awards given to local hygienists and Dr. David Lawrence, from the Dental Hygienists Association of the State of New York, and images and print materials announcing the donation, by Drs. Saroj and T.K. Viswanathan, for the renovation of the dental hygiene clinic at Monroe Community College.
The Bibby library dentistry archives contain materials pertaining to the practice of dental hygiene in Rochester, beginning with George Eastman’s founding of the School for Dental Hygiene in 1915, through the late 1960’s when the school was moved to Monroe Community College. The collection, which includes yearbooks, course outlines and commencement materials, also has ephemera from the Alumnae Association of the Rochester School for Dental Hygienists, which was eventually renamed the Eastman Monroe Dental Hygiene Alumni Association.

A Dear friend in Dental Hygiene passed away-Janet Stager 6-15-10
Dear Dental Hygiene Community,
Janet Stager, RDH was a true professional and an inspiration to all that met her.
If you would like to send the family and significant partner, Carroll a card, here is Janet's address:
3154 E. Cedarbush Drive Canandaigua, NY 14424
I would like to share with you an email that her family sent me. She will be sorely missed!
Jane Morris, President-7th District Dental Hygienists' Association
I'm very sorry to report that Janet Stager died last night (Jun 15th) at 7:48. She had officially been in hospice for only 1 day. She died in her own bed, surrounded by her family, her pastor and a couple of close friends. Her last day, she was barely conscious but did smile a couple of times so she was able to hear what was going on around her.
Over the weekend, particularly on Sunday, there was a constant stream of people coming to say goodbye to Janet and offering help. The support from our church family has been substantial. She had an enormous influence on a wide range of people and she was dearly loved by everyone she met.
There will be a viewing at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Canandaigua (320 South Pearl St) on Thur night from 5-8 PM and the funeral, also at Good Shepherd, will be Fri morning at 10 AM. The obituary will appear in the Canandaigua Daily Messenger (larger obit) and in the Rochester D&C (shorter obit) on Wed. She will be cremated so there will not be a graveside service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Janet Stager should be made either to:
The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
320 South Pearl St
Canandaigua, NY 14424
or
The Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester
840 University Ave
Rochester, NY 14607
